At Hoot + Co we decided that leather is not an option for us. Although the collars + leashes look clean, simple, and are soft to touch like leather, we use a durable coated webbing. The products are 100% Vegan and something that I'm very proud to call a Hoot + Co product. Below you can find a list of all the benefits to our new collars and leashes!
Waterproof - In addition to being vegan, the collars and leashes are waterproof! Talk about convenience and fashion all in one! Get it wet and you can quickly dry it off with a towel or it can air dry within a few minutes. Get it muddy, a quick rinse and it looks brand new! Dried mud? No problem, just use a scrubber and some water + soap if needed and it should come right off. If you get something really sticky or permanent such as marker on the collar, a small dab of rubbing alcohol should take it right off.
Mold Proof + Stink Proof - This one speaks for itself. This material is so amazing you're gunna want a couple different colors!
Durable - The collars are durable and can withstand just about anything! Underneath the coating is a polyester based webbing just like most dog collars.
Fade Resistant - The coated webbing used is nearly fade resistant and should last you quite some time. I've been using one for a year already and it still looks brand new. The only thing we recommend is to not spray the collars with insect repellant containing DEET which is known to cause slight color changes and/or stain and may also leave the collar or leash sticky. If insect repellent is needed, an all natural or organic option is recommended.
Collars + Leashes will be available on April 22nd! Sizes currently available will be 5/8" and 1" widths. We currently have three different colors - Black, Caramel Brown, and Chocolate Brown (although if you watch our live sessions you may have heard of more colors coming). The hardware we offer is Antique Brass or Nickel Matte for the buckle option, both of which are custom made just for our products. A martingale option will be available as well, but currently only available in 1" and comes with a standard Shiny Nickel. Our martingales are also 100% stainless steel!
Depending on orders received, all orders containing ONLY collars or leashes are expected to ship within 3-5 business days!

]]>Lindsay continued Hammers & Hooks as her own business and I moved on. I would’ve stuck around and helped her, but I couldn’t stamp straight for the life of me, ha. Although Hammers & Hooks is no longer active, you can check what she used to make on IG @hammersandhooks. She was amazing at stamping and Lady is still sporting her own custom tag that she’s had a couple years now. She’s still amazing and now runs @colorpoppaper (if you’re a planner girl)!
Back to the story….
So one day my brother who is a graphic designer came over to visit and handed me a logo and name, Hoot + Co. It was simple, easy to remember, and it flowed well. Did it have to do with dog products? Not necessarily, but I loved it and started brainstorming. I had an $65 sewing machine, a dining table that quickly became my workstation, and a few ideas. I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say the bow ties started out as ribbon and the bandanas were a hot mess! We all start somewhere, right?! That was nearly 3 years ago!
If anything, remember this –
Anyone can create a business, but what makes yours unique is how you use your own imagination to create something new. We all have our own sources of inspiration, but what will allow you to thrive is to do your own thing. Brainstorm, trial + error, and create items that come from you and no one else. Be different.
P.S. I can’t get into too much detail yet, but I’ll tell you this much. I’ve been working on four NEW products, yes FOUR. Two of these products are coming this Spring! I’ve been working on these products for over a year now. Why a year? Because I won’t release a product till I’m 110% satisfied with the result. Many months of trial + error and sourcing the supplies for the highest quality I can find and nothing less. I'm excited to show you what's to come in 2017 and hope that you continue to follow our journey!
Love,
Kaylynne
